IWN Blizzard Warning
IowaWeatherNow.net has issued a BLIZZARD WARNING for areas shaded above.
Date: 2/23/19 at 6:45am CST
Timing: Effective late tonight through Sunday night….
Discussion: A upper level low with a banding of convergence, upper divergence and mid-level frontogenesis will support a narrow area of heavy snow from west to north central Iowa. The low will rapidly deepen tonight dropping 10-20 millibars in around a 24 hour period. The deepening of this low will lead to a narrow banding of 9-12″+ of snow and high snowfall rates in that area. Northwest Iowa will experience moderate to heavy snow at times through this event but enough snow to cause issues. Northwest winds will gust 40-60 MPH in the warning area late tonight into much of Sunday. Blizzard conditions will be likely, especially during the day Sunday.
