Timing: Effective now for Tuesday night through Wednesday night….
Discussion: An area of low pressure will work into the central plains from the south late Tuesday. Feeding on gulf moisture, this low will deepen Tuesday night which will place much of western Iowa in the northwestern quadrant for moderate to heavy snow. Heavy snow rates possible. Total snowfall accumulation of 4-8″ expected with locally higher amounts. This one will hit quick and hard late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, so be prepared. The storm will move northeast of the area by Wednesday evening.
